Learn about COBRA Insurance eligibility in your state
Many people are unaware that there may be COBRA insurance options available to you and your family from your state. After the federal COBRA laws passed in 1986, many states passed their own COBRA insurance laws for residents of their states. These laws, usually called mini COBRA programs, many times offer benefits to people who do not qualify under federal COBRA insurance laws. This could be people who work at companies with less than 20 employees or do not qualify for other reasons. Some states also offer extended benefits beyond the typical 18 months.
